Franya Urey Blandón, head of the Department of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Civil Associations of the Ministry of the Interior, presented the request for cancellation to the sanctioned president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, a report in which the request for cancellation was expressly of these last two associations.

The document dictates that both associations have failed “with the delivery of financial reports, to the department of registration and control of non-profit civil associations” that the Ministry of the Interior leads in fiscal periods, the deputies point out “lack of transparency in the administration of funds, ignoring their execution” they add.

The deputies point out that they do not know who the representatives and associates of these associations are.

n

According to the Government, both organizations have failed to comply with the provisions of the General Law on Non-Profit Legal Entities, the Law against Money Laundering, the Financing of Terrorism and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction because allegedly “they have developed their activities outside the law and acting against the law” he expresses. Which implies, supposedly “that with their actions they have violated what is established in the different normative bodies that regulate them,” they detail in the document.

n

The legal status of the other 14 organizations was canceled with urgency, the decree of these cancellations was presented by the deputy Filiberto Jacinto Rodríguez López said that there are associations that violate the laws because they do not account for the origin of their funds, they are headless, there is profit, among others.

n

According to the Government, the organizations failed to deliver financial reports to the Department of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Civil Associations, which promotes a lack of transparency in the administration of funds.

n

“These associations and foundations have failed to comply with and hindered the control and surveillance of the Department of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Civil Associations, which is carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, according to fiscal periods, promoting a lack of transparency in the administration of the funds, not knowing the execution of the same and if it was in accordance with its objectives and purposes for which the National Assembly will grant them the Legal Personality”, indicates the document.

n

They add “The Board of Directors is headless by not reporting these Associations to their Boards of Directors, which has made it impossible for the Regulatory Entity, preventing it from identifying who the representatives and associates of the body are, violating the Laws that regulate Non-Profit Civil Associations in Nicaragua.”

Gonzalo Carrión, lawyer and defender of the Nicaraguan Never Again Human Rights Collective, argues that the Assembly “arbitrarily and unconstitutionally” canceled the legal personality of several associations linked to educational activities, the Catholic Church and expressions of participation in economic development. , social and educational.

n

That decision issued by decree “excludes people involved in the country’s development process” says the lawyer, has only one purpose of “contributing to the perpetuity of power, where there is no room for initiatives that do not coincide with the purposes of a controlled society.”

n

The group stands in solidarity with the affected associations, and denounces the abuse of power that ignores and violates human rights, of the associations and of the people involved.
